Jansen Art Center
The Jansen Art Center is an arts nonprofit in Lynden, Washington offering exhibits, classes, concerts, and more.
I was hired to manage all of the visuals and marketing coming from the Jansen Art Center. Web design, print and digital ads, social media, quarterly brochures, signage, you name it. I made it! Using the existing brand guidelines and molding them to a more modern style, I significantly increased the visual interest and approachability of the Jansen Art Center which in turned increased revenue and recognition.
Because it was a small team with limited resources, I was able to utilize many skill sets within my role such as branding, web design, advertising, marketing, photography, social media, and more.
before
When I arrived, the identity was dated and designs were cluttered. Nothing had been updated or evaluated since the opening in 2012.
After
After experimentation, I was able to reuse the existing identity to create engaging and modern designs which reflected the changing organization. I wasn’t able to complete a full rebrand, so I created a new guideline out of the existing assets. It needed to be comprehensive for a cohesive brand, but also simple and flexible to be used for many applications.
Photography
Being at the art center everyday meant I had plenty of opportunities to capture our community engaging in the arts. When I started, there were little to no photographs available. Now there is a library of images that convey the range of opportunities offered through the art center.
